October 1, 1908

On this day in history, the Ford Model T was introduced to the public in the US. This was not the first available car. However, this was the first car that ordinary middle class people could afford and it would significantly impact the Americans' lives. Costing $850, this car set a standard for cars that were now available to anyone. Not only was it a significant improvement in transportation, it was revolutionary in the way it was produced. The Ford assembly line and its way of mass production forever influenced the industrialization of America and the world in a positive way.

To me, this event in history is greatly appreciated. It did happen so long ago, but we can all see its significance today. Almost anything manufactured uses methods originating in the ford assembly line. We ride in cars every day. Without this innovation, we would be far less industrialized.
