Assignment 16: Horror-Wes Grigsby

I choose the genre of Horror. The two films I choose are "Bram Stoker's Dracula" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (the first one). Horror varies widely, obviously if you've seen these two films. I will first compare the two. They are only similar in that they could make you jump out of your seat. They are not similar at all. Now, for the contrast. "Bram Stoker's Dracula" is a masterpiece by the master Francis Ford Coppola. Firstly, it is Dracula, therefore if you have not seen it you know that is has some credibility for at least building off of the original classic, which this film is the closest to portraying. Secondly, it does not just jar you with fear, the emotion and romance will cloud your thought that it is part horror. Thirdly, it has perfect actors and actresses such as Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, and Anthony Hopkins. To even compare the dog crap that is "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" to this masterpiece is absolutely shameful, for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre sucks in every fashion with actors, no classic credibility, and no emotion, blah blah blah.
