In my opinion there are actually times when it's I suppose 'appropriate' for war. But keep in mind that I don't mean just starting a war for no reason, but rather as a reaction to something else happening in the world. For example, if there was some dictator in a developing country who was ruthless and killing citizens for no reason at all, in my opinion it would be reasonable to go to war in order to stop the injustice going on there. Another reason to go to war would be if one of your ally countries is being attacked by another country and they need your aid. But attacking another country simply because you feel like it or because they might be a threat to you is completely unjustified. However there is always an alternative to war as long as all parties involved are willing to get together, talk and come up with a peaceful solution.
