Alex Warren- Uganda (Mike Wells)

Alex Warren
This is an image of a Ugandan boy holding the hand of a missionary, the photo is iconic to say the least. As it states on the website I found this picture, “This image strikes us a reminder about the disparity in the world.” This is shocking, disturbing, and/or depressing to most people when they first see it. Is that really how we actually feel about this boy and his health? About his fatherless family? About his entire village? No it  really isn’t. Sure lets send $1 a month to help this child in need, but how much will that give him? Maybe a pail to scoop up filthy, polluted muck from the community, animals included, “watering” whole. How about you keep that $1 to toss into the cup of the homeless man and his dog huddled in the corner of a New York City subway. Or maybe float the $1 into the guitar case of a single mother who had just gotten evicted. For the love of God give them something! Actually no keep your money go waste it on the newest video game or a brand new purse, because that usually what you do. Instead of going out and volunteering, take a load off and enjoy your favorite sitcom. Continue your day like nothing bad is happening to others in the world, live in your own perfect bubble, in the world that revolves around you, I mean nothing is bad unless it harms you in some way, right? But when you see this image remember that there are millions and millions of people in the world that are suffering each and every day, risking everything to stay alive, and all you have to do is help them. Make an impact! But it’s up to you, take a small chunk of your time or money to help another and make the world a better place, or just let it be a selfish society centered around you.
