iWrite True Life: Addicted to Snapchatting

I love technology. From my phone, to my laptop, to my TV and Netflix, I love it all. Although my phone and I are inseparable, I have definitely seen the technology today negatively affect people.

One of those people would be me. A lot of our technology has been designed to speed us up, make things faster, and make life easier on us. This is true, but at times, my phone has slowed me down. When I clicked ‘download’ on the popular snapchat app, I thought I was just going to be sending even more embarrassing selfies than what I had already been sending but now people couldn’t easily save them as blackmail. I was right about this but I didn’t realize how out of hand it would get. I found my self snapchatting at every moment possible: in the hallways, at lunch, on the toilet, while I was doing homework, waiting for my food in the microwave, on the bus, at Wal-Mart. You name it. I was addicted and literally could not get things done without snapchatting.

Not only has technology caused many addictions, but it has changed what our generation values. All teens care about these days is how many likes they got on their picture they posted on instagram or retweets on twitter.

I still love my phone and would never give up any of my technology. Technology itself isn’t bad in my opinion, we’ve just let it come to control our lives.
