Television

I will start by saying that I don't usually watch TV. I watch TV shows all the time, but not TV. If there's a show I want to watch, I'll watch it on Hulu or some other website online. This way, I definitely don't get the full experience of "television." I get the show, but not the advertisements, or even the schedule of the shows. At the same time, I understand the appeal of television. It's an entertaining, passive activity that requires little effort yet is visually and audibly engaging. While the announcement of the Nobel Prizes is undoubtedly a very important occasion, it requires more effort to understand and is not as interesting to the average American. When I do watch television shows, I watch Perception, Grey's Anatomy, Castle, Sherlock, The Big Bang Theory....and I will admit that I have watched all 6 seasons of Gossip Girl . I like TV shows that have character to them. I've never understood the appeal of reality TV; to me, TV shows should be more of an escape from reality.
